Zircocem - Ceramic Adhesive Cement

ZIRCOCEM is a Zircon based inorganic low-expansion cold setting ceramic cement.

ZIRCOCEM is an ideal adhesive cement for halogen lamp cap fixing, embedding electrical heating elements, insulating and fixing of thermocouples, lining and maintenance of refractories, coating resistors and coils, sealing and assembling parts, which require high resistance to electricity, chemicals and thermal shocks, ZIRCOCEM adheres glass to glass, glass to ceramics, ceramic to ceramics, glass to metals, ceramic to metals etc.

Application

ZIRCOCEM is a two part chemical setting cement consisting part I micro fine dry powder and part II liquid which are mixed together to make a cementing paste. The powder should be thoroughly mixed before using. Part I powder 80% by wt and part II liquid 20% by wt (i.e. to prepare 100 gms ZIRCOCEM cement paste, take 80 gms of part I powder, add 20 gms of part II liquid) Shake thoroughly part II liquid before weighing. Place weighed liquid in a clean mixing container and add powder gradually, mix them thoroughly till smooth uniform (tooth) paste consistancy is obtained. Mixing can be carried out in a mixer at slow speed or by hand with a spatula. ZIRCOCEM can be mixed to thinner consistency by regulating marginal amount of part 11 liquid.

Setting / Curing

ZIRCOCEM cement paste starts internal chemical setting action in 18-24 hrs at ambient temperature. Cement paste working time is approximate 30 minutes at ambient temp. if it is desired to accelerate the cure apply oven drying at (90°C) 194°F Avoid steaming while drying.

Before cementing , porous substrates may require dampening. Apply only part II liquid coat on a substrate surface before applying the cement paste.

If high humidity resistance is required and if it is impractical to heat the cement, to make surface moisture resistant, suggest apply suitable lacquer or silicone coating on the cured ZIRCOCEM exposed cemented surface.

Cleaning

Equipment and contact parts used for processing ZIRCOCEM cement paste should be thoroughly cleaned with soap and water before ZIRCOCEM cement cures.

Caution

Use of excess quantity of liquid part II will reduce the mechanical strength and effect delay in setting time. Failure of cement to adhere indicates that cement adhesive strength is diminished and it should be discarded. Do not attempt to retemper the cement by adding more amount of liquid.

Packaging

ZIRCOCEM adhesive (part I) cement powder is supplied in strong air tight plastic containers, quantity 1 Kg, 5 Kgs and 25 Kgs. ZIRCOCEM (part II) liquid supplied in proportionate qty in strong airtight plastic bottles.

Shelf Life

ZIRCOCEM powder part I and liquid part II have a shelf life of one year, in a closed air tight container, in a dry location at room temperature.
