Calculation of bead charge for the mill

Before charging the mill with Zircosil beads, it is strongly recommended to check thoroughly the capacity and volume of the bead mill chamber. To assess the right quantity of Zircosil beads required for the mill, refer to the formula given below.

For Closed Vertical type bead mill 70-80% volume of the mill x packing density of Zircosil
For Horizontall type bead mill 75-85% volume of the mill x packing density of Zircosil
For Open Vertical type bead mill 60-70% volume of the mill x packing density of Zircosil

An Example:
Suppose closed type vertical bead mill chamber capacity is 50 ltrs. and if charged with 1.6 - 2.0 mm dia Zircosil beads @ 70%, mill volume works out to 35 ltrs. Since the bead packing density is around 2.75 kg / ltr therefore you will be requiring around 96 kg. Zircosil beads to charge the mill to obtain optimum milling results.
